Fall 2009

Assalamu alaikum,

May Allah accept your Ibadah in Ramadhan – ameen. A Happy Eid Mubarak to you all. Let us strive to become better Muslims, enhance our Iman and do more in His path Insha'Allah. One of the best ways to serve Allah (SWT) is to become more active in Dawah. Alhamdulillah, we have increased our activities and campaigns over the last two years and our goal is to keep moving forward with more Dawah projects. Here is a brief overview of what we have done so far:

  1. Ongoing campaign from September 2nd through December 9th, 2009 on the Pennysaver with ads and flier inserts. Insha'Allah we will reach about 49,000 homes 13 times with our Dawah message in the Sacramento area.
  2. Completed a two week radio ad campaign last month. Reached over 300,000 people multiple times Alhamdulillah with 140 ads.
  3. 18 days of Dawah at the California State Fair in 2008. Reached thousands of people face to face, through the Sacramento Bee article and online media sources.
  4. Participated in the Feed the Hungry and Blankets for the Homeless drives.
  5. Ongoing Dawah activities at the Arden Fair Mall, Galleria in Roseville and Westfield Mall in Fairfield.
  6. Assisted CAIR, MSAs and many masajids with providing brochures, Qurans and volunteers for their events.
  7. Many Dawah training workshops and presentations at Salam, Masjid Annur, Folsom Islamic Center and Masjid Al Tawheed etc. More are being planned Inshaallah.
  8. Provided Qurans to libraries.

We are looking for more volunteers Insha'Allah! The goal is to increase activities as we increase the number of Da’ees, Insha'Allah. Here are some projects we are working on currently and you can help with your time, ideas and funds Insha'Allah:

  1. Video programs for a cable network to present Islam without bias of the media. We control the content, format, information and who we invite as guests Insha'Allah. The audience is estimated at 250,000.
  2. Take phone calls from non Muslims on our 1-877-WHYISLAM toll free hotline. These calls will be routed to you without giving out your phone number. Choose the hours you are available. Great opportunity to do Dawah from home in your spare time!
  3. Volunteer to answer questions via email on our newly developed database Insha'Allah.
  4. Increase the number of locations for Dawah in our area such as the Denios Auction in Roseville where thousands of people visit every weekend among many other locations.
  5. Radio ad voices needed for future campaigns.
  6. Do Dawah online!
  7. Dawah training workshops are being planned Insha'Allah. Please email us to enroll. Meanwhile, please visit our website at www.WhyIslam.org for Dawah and Deen information. Our website is in the top five Islamic websites in the world in terms of hits/visits Masha'Allah!
  8. Mail brochures to your neighbors to do your duty of conveying the message to them. Use our P.O. Box address if you prefer as sender.
  9. More sisters are needed to expand the sisters’ wing and activities. Besides, majority of new Muslims are women! We need more sisters to reach out to them.
  10. Explore billboard and TV ads etc.

We have shared with you this information to emphasize the fact that there are a lot of different ways of doing Dawah. We need to find the activities that appeal to us so that at least we get involved in some fashion to perform our duty Insha'Allah. To do more, we need more volunteers and more funds! The rewards for both are with Allah (SWT)! Please make a commitment to fulfill the responsibility of doing Dawah.
